Supervisory Life Scientist/Environmental Engineer/Physical Scientist

You will:
- Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Brownfields and Revitalization Branch, ensuring that they comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs; - Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities; - Represent the Agency with a variety of functional area organizations; - Serve as a technical advisor and assistant to the Second-Level Supervisor on issues pertaining to Brownfields activities. You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements. In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as providing leadership, oversight or technical expertise for a scientific project or program of limited scope in the areas of assessment, cleanup, revitalization and/or redevelopment of contaminated sites; coaching, mentoring or leading others. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
1) Knowledge of concepts, principles, and/or practices of land revitalization, assessment and/or cleanup of contaminated sites; 2) Knowledge of guidance related to the implementation of rules and regulations under federal or state cleanup programs, Brownfields, and/or related land revitalization programs; 3) Ability to lead staff by evaluating work performance and giving advice, counsel, and instruction; 4) Skill in oral communication; 5) Skill in written communication; and 6) Ability to advise on technical issues pertaining to Brownfields revitalization and redevelopment issues. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
