Senior Social Worker

As a Senior Social Worker at the CBOC, your duties will include:
Incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, and other serious disorders. Offers consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas. Provide intensive case management services to assigned patients and their support system throughout the continuum of care. Provide individual and group counseling as appropriate. Performs marital and family therapy as indicated by psychosocial history and treatment plan. Provide consultation/education to Veterans and families on community resources, advance directives and VA benefits. Acts as liaison between VA and community resources, to include outreach with community providers and stakeholders as needed. Provide a full range of Social Work services within commonly accepted standards of Social Work practice which includes case work, individual, family and group counseling, discharge planning, case management and other services as appropriate. Supervise the practice of Social Work students as appropriate. Maintain data and statistical compilations to comply with The Joint Commission, VA and medical center policy and procedures. Documents in the patient's medical record in accordance with Social Work and medical center policies, and the requirements of Joint Commission. Fulfill ethical responsibilities to Veterans, colleagues and VA in accordance with NASW Code of Ethics, VHA Code of Ethics, and local Ethics policies, which includes but is not limited to compliance with all laws and regulations related to confidentiality and release of information, and protecting Veterans' personal identifying information. Maintaining accurate record of relevant trainings and participate in continuing education in accordance with VA policies and state licensure. Work Schedule:

Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Licensure:
Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the masters level. English language proficiency. Social Workers must be proficient in spoken and written English. Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements above, at the GS-12 level, applicants must have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Applicants must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which include an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice). Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/ course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs at the GS-12 level as listed below:
Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management. Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes. Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills. Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area. References:

Must be able to walk/stand for at least 8 hours a day; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); clear speech; will be outside and inside; possible excessive noise, intermittent; work closely with others. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
