Senior Engineer (Mechanical)

L-3 SPD Electrical Systems (SPDES) located in Northeast Philadelphia is currently looking for a Senior Engineer, (Mechanical) to join our team. Our products include air circuit breakers, switchgear, large motor controllers and the Power Node Control Center (PNCC).
Broad Function:
Provide design support expertise for new or modified products, including analytical analysis and calculations and the preparation of layouts or operation of automated design equipment such as CAD/CAE for design synthesis and/or analysis. Provide technical support to production, marketing, purchasing, suppliers and customers.
Responsible for the following:
Provide design support expertise for new or modified products, including analytical analysis and calculations and the preparation of layouts or operation of automated design equipment such as CAD/CAE for design synthesis and/or analysis. Provide technical support to production, marketing, purchasing, suppliers and customers.
Analytical design effort for product support developments or modifications of present products.
Review detail design activity from Product Engineer to ascertain if the details are correct and will perform the intended function.
Serve as the Project Engineer on certain product support engineering jobs which are less complex with regard to technical scope, budget, or schedule than those necessitating the assignment of a Manager/Director.
Create new engineering ideas relative to existing designs which are cost effective and producible.
Analyze production data and make revisions to the design to obtain an optimum and reliable product.
Communicate designs to manufacturing and assist in pilot production of new design or modification to present design.
Prepare technical documentation regarding product assembly and test.
Prepare technical documentation for manufacturing and Quality Assurance, such as factory specifications and Product Assurance procedures.
Prepare field change instructions and other field documentation as required.
Assure the operation is in compliance with all city, state and federal regulations within areas of responsibility, i.e., OSHA, Affirmative Action and EPA, etc.

Required:
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering principals, as applied to the Company's product.
Ability to suggest creative ideas relative to new designs.
Ability to communicate with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Marketing, customers, and vendors on technical requirements and characteristics of the products.
Ability to keep organized and effective notes and documentation regarding steps taken in a program solution.
Proficiency in application of ferrous, non-ferrous, and insulating materials.
B.S: in Mechanical Engineering is required
Five years minimum mechanical design experience on mechanical, electrical and/or electro-mechanical systems, preferably in circuit breakers, switchgear and/or power conversion equipment.
Familiarity with design of mechanical and electromechanical devices.
CAD, Solid Modeling, mechanical analysis, and materials knowledge required.
Magnetics analysis is a plus.
Circuit breaker experience is a plus
