Summary:
The U.S. Business Law team seeks an experienced Counsel tojoin a team of lawyers responsible for providing advice and counsel to Cigna'sGroup Insurance business. Cigna's GroupInsurance business includes Group Life, Accident and Disability Insuranceproducts. This position will be responsiblefor handling matters related to ERISA, privacy, taxation, group insuranceproducts, self-funded plan administration, and regulatory compliance. Voluntaryproduct knowledge is a plus. A demonstratedability to assess ambiguity and risk and counsel internal business clients isessential. Working as part of a team, theCounsel must understand and apply the law against current business goals andchallenges and effectively deliver appropriate solution-oriented advice in afast-paced environment. The ability tothink strategically and pro-actively is also highly desired. International experience is also a plus.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include providing support as partof a team of lawyers for all aspects of Cigna Group Insurance, including groupdisability, life and accident products, client account support, voluntaryproducts and other specialized business projects and segments. The Counsel will frequently interact with businessmanagers/staff and employer-policyholders. The Counsel may manage outside counsel relationships related to his orher responsibilities. The Counsel willparticipate in industry groups and work with internal lobbyist on identifyingand responding to legislation impacting the business.
The Counsel must:
Manage projects, drive tasks toconclusion and execute effectively alongside knowledgeable, experiencedinternal clients.
Provide creative, proactive,customer-focused, solution-oriented advice to advance and protect businessgoals, mitigate risks and achieve objectives.
Strive to identify opportunities andsolutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Legal team interactionwith the business and delivery of legal advice.
Counsel, and collaboratively workwith the business as they develop and drive to conclusion, new products andservices necessary to support business segment goals.
Occasionally, engage and manageoutside counsel and interact with regulators.
Assess risk and ambiguity.
Work collaboratively and buildrelationships with members of the Legal Department in disparate areas toprovide holistic advice to the segment encompassing input from areas outside ofthe U.S. Business Law team.
Hiring Location: Philadelphia, PA or Bloomfield, CT
JD/Bar membership required.
Minimum of 6 years relevant in-houseor law firm legal experience.
Subject matter knowledge in:ERISA, privacy, tax, group disability, life and accident insurance products,third party benefits administration and contracting.
This position requires acustomer-focused approach to problem solving and the ability to efficientlymanage a diverse workload.
Strong work ethic and excellentjudgment.
Strong analytical, negotiation andcommunication skills.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
