Marcum LLP is seeking a Nonprofit Senior Manager to join our growing and well established national firm in our Philadelphia, PA office.
The Tax Senior Manager is responsible for using their specialized education in the fields of accounting and taxation to apply professional independent judgment and skepticism while overseeing accountants.
The senior manager develops and maintains expertise on specialized accounting and taxation practices applicable to entities in the industry or specialization including unrelated business income, tax-exemption issues, private foundations, public support test and experience with IRS examinations.

Essential DutiesEffectively plan multiple engagements simultaneously, managing operations and revenue, and delegates to and supervises associates.
Considered a primary resource of technical knowledge and demonstrates sound knowledge of topics through a broad range of experiencesPrepare federal and state tax returns, including exercising professional judgment with respect to issue identification to develop solutions to tax issues in returns.
Assumes responsibility for complex tax returns.
Successfully completes research on highly complex tax matters, demonstrating thorough knowledge of the problems, issues and best solutions in the circumstancesSet achievable new business as well as cross-selling revenue goals for current and subsequent years.
Utilizes the Business Development Platform to track opportunities and winsParticipate in client proposals, planning and attendanceInitiates risk management strategies and tactics.
Identify and communicates areas of exposure to risk, and participates in discussions to mitigate the risk.
Ensure quality control procedures are being executedManage people and functions through the following skills, but not limited to; coaching, decision making, problem solving, strategy & planning, delegation, leadership and team buildingAdditional ResponsibilitiesProactively participate in professional development opportunities, i.

Help identify and recruit quality candidates.
Working beyond standard hours is expected during busy seasonMinimal travel to client sites may be requiredAdditional responsibilities, not listed above may be expected as neededQualificationsBA/BS/MS in Accounting or Tax from an accredited college or university (minimum of 150 college credits earned before start date).
Masters in Taxation degree or LLM in Taxation preferredMust have CPA licenseWorking knowledge of tax laws/Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesFirm understanding of tax-exempt organizations, IRC and related lawExperience reviewing Form 990 and training staff and seniors to prepare the form1
years of relevant public accounting experience preferred; experience in tax provision a plusBasic technology skills with proficiency in Excel, Word & PowerPoint required.
Working knowledge and experience with ProSystem Fx Engagement Tax, CCH Axcess, CCH Caseware, and Go File Room are a plusWorking knowledge of federal and state tax complianceKnowledge and experience in ASC 740 tax provisionStrong verbal and written communication skills and be able to listen effectivelyAble to liaison between Audit and Tax and clients.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
