Building Maintenance Worker

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform on-going general maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds as a member of the Facilities Team; to include plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, exterior repairs, asphalt & concrete patching, flooring, and other building misc.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing work within established procedures and processes under both verbal and written instructions.
This position takes direction from the Facilities Manager but is also expected to work well independently; while using solid judgement to adjust tasks and priorities based on facility needs as determined by the ticket system and discussion with the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of five (5) years full-time, wage earning experience in general maintenance, construction or related area.
Completion of equivalent technical or trade school course may be substituted for two (2) years of the required vocational experience.
Proficiency in trades related to building maintenance and repair.
Proficiency in a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to use efficiently various power and hand tools.
Knowledge of maintenance techniques and procedures, including the ability to interpret electrical prints, diagrams, schematics and to make arithmetic calculations required.
Ability to detect, diagnose, and resolve electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating/cooling, and equipment problems before they impact the operation of the facility Must have a valid Drivers License Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs as a part of the basic and on-going functions related to the position.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Performing repair or general Maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier, and painting tasks which include but are not limited to:
Performing preventive building maintenance duties; caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.
Repairing and treating structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets and roofs.
Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.
Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment.
Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects, as directed.
