SUMMARY The Senior Graphic Designer will provide graphics and desktop publishing support to the CDC Epilepsy Program, collaborating with a team of scientific writers to produce a formal report on Epilepsy Program progress. Must be able to work remotely and independently to provide a cogent, well edited, quality product. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including:

Develops visually appealing graphics for a report designed for lay and scientific audiences. Solely responsible for graphics, layout, and design contribution to draft and final products. Reviews all existing program source material documentation to inform design activities. Coordinates with scientific writing team to ensure appropriate graphics are developed and edited to convey key report topics. Interfaces with customer for in process review meetings. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree required in Public Health, English, or related field. Ten (10+) or more years' experience on projects developing graphical products for government customers, particularly within the Department of Health and Human Services. Must be capable via education and experience to comprehend epilepsy and neurological concepts and information. Must have demonstrated capability to design Section 508 compliant products. CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION U.S. Citizens only due to government or federal requirement JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Demonstrated ability to review, understand and develop graphic designs related to Epilepsy or other neurological disorders. Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Proven ability to conceptualize, create and design graphics for scientific reports. Must provide samples of prior graphics products, redacted as necessary. Exceptional organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills. Adept analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently, stay highly organized, juggle multiple responsibilities and adjust to new tasks. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines. Ability to provide background information about the project, answer questions and provide updates to CDC, CNI project managers and local health department staff. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Design & UXEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
