A Brief OverviewDr.
David Lynch leads a dynamic research program primarily focused on understanding the of the disease Friedreich ataxia (FA), a progressive neurogenetic condition found in approximately one in 50,000 people worldwide.
While relatively rare, it is the most common form of inherited ataxia, a condition characterized by progressive lack of coordinated movement and loss of balance.
The research ongoing in the Lynch Lab includes a variety of projects including double-blind clinical trials, identifying biomarkers, and mechanistic studies in animal and cellular models FA also involves degeneration of heart muscle and nerve cells.
The research team supports ongoing day-to-day tasks within the ongoing research studies of the Lynch lab.
Candidates must be comfortable and or have experience working with animals.
What you will do Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner Conducts literary searches as directed Basic pi petting Education Qualifications Associate's Degree Required Bachelor's Degree Preferred Experience Qualifications At least six (6) months laboratory experience Required At least one (1) year laboratory experience Preferred Related internship experience Preferred To carry out its mission, CHOP is committed to supporting the health of our patients, families, workforce, and global community.
