Summary:
The Developmental Editor, Digital Products (DE-DP), will serve as developmental editor for digital products in multiple health professions (HP) disciplines.
The DE-DP takes an active role in developing and improving digital learning experiences in order to maximize learner understanding and engagement.
Collaboration with the Digital Solutions (DS) and Content Solutions (CS) departments is required to successfully create online courseware, instructor support materials, and appropriate testing and audiovisual resources for students.
The DE-DP must work closely with acquisitions editors, authors, subject matter experts, development vendors, and freelance developmental editors to execute the publishing plan for each product.
Minimum Qualifications/
Experience:
oMinimum 1-2 years' developmental experienceoExcellent written and verbal communications skills oStrong project management and problem-solving skills; familiarity with card-based and/or spreadsheet tools, such as Teams Planner or SmartSheetoStrong computer skills required:

Responsibilities:
Human ResourcesoServe as developmental editor for digital products in the Health Professions department and oversee the execution of each developmental plan so it matches the expectation at signingoAct as liaison with the Digital Solutions (DS) and Content Solutions (CS) departments for digital products (online courseware, instructor support materials, and testing and audiovisual resources for students)oCoordinate work of authors, subject matter experts, development vendors, and freelance DEs on digital products to ensure that development plan is successfully implementedoAssist DS project managers to direct the work of outside DS vendorsoProvide editorial training to content project managers as neededProjectsoAdvise Director of Content Development regarding workflow of all HP projects as they proceed through Digital Publishing and Production; report status of all assigned projects on a regular basis via company-wide databaseoWork with acquisition editors from inception of project through the development and production cycles to educate potential and signed authors about the publication processoDevelop and improve the design and usability of online courseware; create instructor support materials (instructor guide, lesson plans, test bank, PowerPoint) that address course pathways and are supported by sound pedagogical learning practicesoCreate and monitor development schedules; ensure that deadlines are clearly communicated to authors and freelance DEs; act as a troubleshooter as problems ariseoCoordinate with Director of Content Development to assign product contributions to developmental editor and/or content project manager.
oDirect and help authors/contributors to assemble all elements of the manuscript in the desired form; assist authors and freelance DEs with art development processoPrepare and release final manuscript to Content Solutions and Digital Solutions through company content management system; review all art programs (files, scrap, logs) submitted by authors/freelance DEs before they are transmitted to ProductionoMonitor developmental, art, and DS budgets for assigned titles oReview page proof and art proof for digital products, as neededoSet up and coordinate video/photo shoots and/or studio time for audio projects as needed; review rough cut through final clipsPolicies and ProceduresoCoordinate relationship between the production, art, design, and developmental process with the authoroAssist in the maintenance of consistent and efficient developmental proceduresoCollaborate with DS project managers to ensure that current policies are still effective and are maintained in an effective mannerEducation/Certifications:
