Position Overview
As a Linux Administrator, you will be a part of LeapFrog's IT team working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As part of your role you will provide daily support across a wide range of technical issues, be responsible for the operation and maintenance of production systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. Excellent communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to work well in team settings are key factors for the successful candidate.
The Linux Administrator reports to the Manager of Systems Engineering. The qualified candidate must meet or exceed the qualifications outlined below and must be able to perform the tasks to which the job entails.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform day to day maintenance on Linux/UNIX environments including account creation, application deployments, script creation and backups
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues when necessary
Proactively monitor servers, storage, applications and services
Install, configure and maintain server hardware and software at multiple sites
Deploy hardware, O/S and application patches/updates utilizing best practices
Be available for on-call rotation and after-hours support
Limited travel required

Demonstrable proficiency in Linux system administration, specifically rpm based distributions (Red Hat/CentOS/Oracle Linux)
Experience deploying and supporting virtualization and/or cloud based technologies (xen, kvm, Oracle VM Server or Amazon EC2 for example)
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of web servers, application servers and databases (Apache, Tomcat or Weblogic)
Knowledge of mid/large data center environments
Experience implementing and supporting monitoring and notification tools (syslog-ng, cacti, mrtg, nagios for example)
Experience supporting at least one SAN platform
Demonstrable experience and knowledge in fundamental networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP)
Possess the ability to write and maintain scripts (bash, perl etc.)
Experience with and understanding of networking equipment and technologies (load balancers, switches, routers, firewalls)
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Exposure to UNIX (Solaris) a plus
Experience supporting e-commerce platforms a plus
Experience with configuration management and deployment technologies (puppet, chef or cfengine) a plus
B.S. Computer Science/Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must have 5-8 years' experience working in a Linux Administration role, Systems Administration role or similar
